The A1 Wetherby-Bramham realignment is a scheme currently in progress to realign the A1 and upgrade it to motorway standard as the A1(M). It being built to relieve congestion in the area. The works are expected to be finished by 2009.

The motorway will run from the Junction 45 at York, where the current A1(M) ends, up to Junction 46 at Wetherby where the motorway continues. The new motorway will have fewer junctions, instead having parallel feeder roads for the local traffic. The work will involve building several new structures at Wetherby race course and widening Wetherby Grange Bridge.

As part of the scheme, a new service area will be built along the motorway. This is due to the closure of old service stations on the original A1 route.
